Instructions

Open "My Computer" on your Windows desktop. Browse through your folders and open the "CStrike" directory inside your Steam folder. (Typically, this is: C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\Email\counter-strike\cstrike)
    • 2
Create three new folders inside the "CStrike" directory. When you are in the "CStrike" directory, right-click any blank white space in the window and select "New" > "Folder". Type in the name of the folder and hit "Enter" to create your folder. Name the folders "models", "sprites" and "sound".

Download a Counter-Strike skin you wish to install. See Resources for links to some good websites that have compiled a number of skins for download. These websites are free to access and use. FPS Banana is the most well-organized website, while the FS Killers site requires users to make a free account before downloading.

Double-click the downloaded skin package to open it with your unzipping software. A new window will appear, listing the files that are included in the download package.
    • 5
Click on the "Type" column header at the top of the list to reorganize the files within the packaged skin by file type. Select the files with a ".mdl" extension, right-click and select "Extract to...". A new dialog box will pop up, asking you for the location to extract the files. Browse through the folders and select the "models" folder you created earlier. Repeat the extraction process for files with the extension ".spr". Extract the ".spr" files to the "sprites" folder you created. If there are any audio files that came in the package, place them in the "sound" folder.
